The mission of the Kump Education Center is to promote collaboration between local private colleges and public schools to establish and maintain Professional Development Schools in the highland region of central West Virginia and support continuing education for local public school educators.
Enhance human Resources
The Kump Education Center is a nonprofit organization formed to carry out the wishes of Mary Gamble Kump who gave her family home to the city of Elkins in 2008 to “promote educational purposes.” The city of Elkins and Kump House Endowment Trustees are responsible for the renovation fo the Kump House, and the Kump Education Center will develop programs for educational purposes. The Kump Education Center is collaborating with three private colleges (Davis and Elkins College, Wesleyan College, and Alderson-Broaddus College) and five public school systems (Randolph, Upshur, Barbour, Tucker, and Pendleton counties) to create a professional development school consortium.
